We begin this journey doing the international rout N°7 with the imposing view of the Potrerillos Dam. The next point on the route will be Uspallata; former pre-Hispanic settlement of aboriginal Huarpe people and now current head village of this mountain route. From this point, the southernmost of the Inca Empire, we go to the villages of Picheuta, Polvaredas, Punta de Vacas and the former Penitentes ski resort. Further along our rout, we’ll come to Puente del Inca, a unique natural rock formation, surrounded by thermal springs, that looks like a bridge over Las Cuevas River. A few kilometers away, located at 2750 m, is the viewponit of the Colossus of the Americas, which with its 6962 m, receives visitors from all over the worldwho wants to reach its summit. We will head southwest on Provincial Route 86, enjoying the landscapes of Cacheuta until we cross the tunnel that connects this town with Potrerillos. We will contemplate the wonderful view of the Cordón del Plata, Mendoza’s main source of water and, of the picturesque Potrerillos Dam, a mirror of crystalline water in the middle of mountains. We will continue, until we reach the town of Uspallata. Where we will make a strategic stop to get a better view of the Valley. Already back in the van, we will move a few kilometers, until we reach “Puente del Inca”. Mandatory stop icon of our mountain range. Once we return to the route, the Aconcagua Provincial Park awaits us. There we will obtain the corresponding permits to make a walk of approximately two hours, to the viewpoint of the Laguna de Horcones, where we can see the South Wall and the summit of the highest hill in America. *The route of the tour may be affected by road conditions during the winter due to weather conditions.
