Red Fort
Step into the epicenter of Mughal power at the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of India's most iconic landmarks. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan, this colossal fortress of red sandstone served as the main residence of emperors for nearly 200 years. Your guide will introduce you to its vast history, from its role as a lavish imperial palace to its significance as the site where India's Prime Minister addresses the nation every Independence Day.

Chatta Chowk Bazar / Meena Bazaar
Your journey begins as you pass through the impressive Lahore Gate and enter Chatta Chowk, a magnificent 17th-century covered bazaar. Originally catering to the luxurious tastes of the imperial household, this atmospheric market was once filled with silk, jewelry, and spices. Today, it's a vibrant marketplace for handicrafts and souvenirs, and your guide will explain its unique history as you walk through.

Naubat khana
Pass through the formal entrance to the palace, the Naubat Khana, or Drum House. It was here that musicians would play five times a day to announce the time and the arrival of the emperor or other royalty. Your guide will explain the ceremony of this grand tradition before you proceed into the heart of the fort.

Diwan-i-Aam
Witness the spot where the emperor connected with his people. In this grand hall, Emperor Shah Jahan would sit upon an ornate marble throne canopy to hear the petitions of his subjects. Your guide will point out the intricate Florentine 'pietra dura' inlay work and explain how the emperor administered justice from this impressive seat of power.

Diwan-i-Khas
Discover the lavishly decorated inner sanctum of the fort, reserved for the emperor's private audience with courtiers and state guests. This hall was the nerve center of the Mughal Empire and once housed the legendary, jewel-encrusted Peacock Throne. Your guide will translate the famous Persian inscription on its walls: "If there is a paradise on earth, it is this, it is this, it is this."

Khas Mahal
After visiting the royal palaces, your tour continues to the nearby Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque). Admire the pristine beauty of this private mosque, built entirely of gleaming white marble.
