Bosphorus Strait
"This beautiful strait, sometimes spelled Bosporus and sometimes Bosphorus, was so called from the earliest ages by the ancients; from the mythology of 10, the mistress of Jupiter, having passed over it in the shape of a cow. It resembles the Dardanelles, in length, breadth and current, and like it, is a narrow separation which divides Europe from Asia; but it has many features familiar to itself. Instead of being a solitary stream running between deserted shores, it is a body of water full of life and animation, winding its way through banks covered with palaces and villages, shaded with magnificent forest trees, presenting to the eye, at every mile, a new scene of crowded existence."

"The Sultan's Palace, the new one or Palace of the Bosphorus, as it is called par excellence, is an immense pile of buildings the marble steps by which it is entered bathing in the sapphire and rapid flowing Bosphorus... Bosphorus Bridge
It is a gravity-anchored suspension bridge with steel towers and inclined hangers. The aerodynamic deck hangs on steel cables. It is 1,560 m (5,118 ft) long with a deck width of 33.40 m (110 ft).The distance between the towers (main span) is 1,074 m (3,524 ft) and the total height of the towers is 165 m (541 ft). The clearance of the bridge from sea level is 64 m (210 ft).
Upon its completion in 1973, the Bosphorus Bridge had the fourth-longest suspension bridge span in the world

Bebek is one of the best neighborhoods in Istanbul. It is by the Bosporus. There are plenty of eateries along the way, most of them are good and reasonably priced. Fish restaurants are great. Walk by the sea, watch the boats/ships going through the Bosporus, people fishing, casually walking. It is generally safe day or night.

Karaköy is one of the oldest and most historic districts of the city, and is today an important commercial center and transport hub. The location is connected with the surrounding neighborhoods through streets originating from Karaköy Square.
