Lors de cette visite à pied, nous nous remémorons plus de 200 ans en arrière, à l'époque où Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles de la Compagnie britannique des Indes orientales est arrivé à Singapour, a ouvert un comptoir commercial britannique en 1819, est devenu une partie des Établissements des Détroits en 1826, et finalement une colonie distincte de la couronne britannique en 1867. Nous visiterons des structures bien préservées des époques géorgienne, victorienne et édouardienne, ainsi que des bâtiments majestueux de style néoclassique, qui ont tous été restaurés pour mettre en valeur la splendeur de la Singapour coloniale. Nous rendons hommage à nos anciens maîtres coloniaux qui ont laissé derrière eux leur héritage d'urbanisme soigné, de système juridique solide, de bon système éducatif, d'infrastructures solides, d'architecture impressionnante, etc., qui ont certainement joué un rôle important dans le développement du Singapour moderne.
