L'excursion débute par un trajet le long de la côte nord de l'île, où nous visiterons l'église byzantine de Panagia Kera, datant du XIIe siècle, à 1 km du village de Kritsa. Nous poursuivrons notre excursion par la magnifique route côtière et le village d'Elounda. Nous visiterons notamment le village côtier de Plaka, où nous embarquerons pour l'île aujourd'hui déserte de Spinalonga. Notre guide nous guidera à travers les ruines de ce qui fut une léproserie de 1903 à 1957, où les lépreux bénéficiaient d'une vie meilleure, d'une assistance médicale et d'un soutien économique. Après notre visite de Spinalonga, vous profiterez d'un temps libre pour vous baigner dans les eaux cristallines de Plaka et d'un déjeuner (facultatif). Nous visiterons ensuite la ville d'Agios Nikolaos, capitale de Lassithi. Ici, le lac salé sans fond Voulismeni domine la région.
