Monastero Shaolin (Shaolin Temple)
After being picked up from your hotel in Dengfeng or Zhengzhou around 8:00 AM, embark on a comfortable journey to the legendary Shaolin Temple, the birthplace of Chinese Kung Fu and Chan Buddhism.
Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the world of Shaolin with a thrilling live Kung Fu performance by the temple’s monks. Walk through the ancient temple complex, where you’ll discover its intricate architecture, sacred halls, and serene courtyards. Visit the Pagoda Forest, an extraordinary collection of stone pagodas that serve as tombs for generations of revered monks.
Throughout the tour, gain a deeper understanding of Shaolin philosophy, daily monastic life, and the connection between Kung Fu and spiritual practice. Pagoda Forest of Shaolin Temple
After visiting the Shaolin Temple, head over to the Pagoda Forest, one of the most iconic and tranquil parts of the temple complex. This unique site is home to over 240 ancient pagodas, each marking the tombs of esteemed monks who have contributed to the temple’s legacy. As you stroll through the serene pathways, your guide will explain the history and significance of each pagoda, many of which date back to the Tang and Song Dynasties.
The Pagoda Forest is not only a historical treasure but also a spiritual one, reflecting the deep reverence the monks have for their predecessors. Each pagoda is intricately carved and stands as a symbol of the monk’s achievements in both spiritual practice and martial arts. This peaceful and contemplative area provides an excellent opportunity for reflection and photography, offering a rare glimpse into the meditative and respectful practices that have shaped the Shaolin Temple’s identity.

Longmen Grottoes
After exploring the Shaolin Temple and the Pagoda Forest, continue your journey to the Longmen Grottoes(Approx. 1.5 hours drive), a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its breathtaking collection of ancient Buddhist sculptures. Situated along the Yi River, the grottoes house over 100,000 Buddhist statues, carvings, and inscriptions, some dating back as far as the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534 AD).
As you wander through the vast network of caves and niches, your expert guide will share the rich history of the grottoes and the fascinating stories behind the remarkable stone carvings, which range from large, imposing Buddha statues to intricate, detailed figures of deities, monks, and Bodhisattvas. The architectural mastery and artistic brilliance of these carvings offer a rare glimpse into China’s spiritual and artistic heritage.
After the tour finished, you can choose to end your tour in Luoyang, or be transferred back to your hotel in Zhengzhou.
