Guests get to see the north coast of Trinidad, including Maracas bay, home to the very popular Bake and Shark sandwiches made famous by Andrew Zimmerman and many other social media influencers. The paved roads eventually end and we kick the vehicle into 4x4 with hopes of making our way to the end of the trail, thus making our hike a little shorter. The hike itself is breathtaking. We weave in and out on the edge of the forest offering some spectacular views. One such area is a short stop on turtle rock where we venture through a narrow path onto a rocky outcrop with picturesque scenes to the east and west of the coastline. Paria Falls
This tour is recommended for persons with higher levels of fitness. The hike to Paria varies in time depending on where we start on the trail. For example, during rainy season, we may not be able to drive as far down as we would be able to in dry season. An average would be 1 hour and 30 mins hiking time each direction.
The drive takes us on the very scenic views of Trinidad’s north coast to where the paved roads end. From here we off-road as far as we can to begin the hike. The trail takes you through lush forest with views and sounds of the ocean as we hog the coastline towards Paria bay. We make a brief stop at turtle rock before continuing to the beach. On arrival guests will notice a distinct landmark known as cathedral rock. We walk along the beach towards the river where we relax, take a refreshing dip by its mouth that empties into the bay. Afterwards we take a 20 minute hike inland to Paria Waterfalls before again departing and hiking back to the vehicles.
