Our tour starts at the Land Gate, an impressive 16th-century Venetian entrance decorated with the winged lion – the symbol of the Venetian Republic. From here, your guide leads you into the Old Town, sharing stories of Zadar’s history, culture, and its centuries-old fortress walls.

Five Wells
Five Wells were built to supply Zadar with water during times of siege. Opposite the wells, you’ll see the Captain’s Tower and parts of the medieval fortifications. Next, you’ll enter Queen Jelena’s Park, the first public park in Dalmatia, planted on a former military bastion. Along the way, you will see the remains of the town gate from Roman times.

Next, you’ll arrive at the Roman Forum, the main square of the ancient colony of Iader. Here, you can see the remains of temples, streets, and columns, along with a church complex that was built on the site in later centuries, showing how the area has evolved over time.
