Punta Jesus Maria
Punta Jesús María is a narrow strip of sand stretches out into Lake Nicaragua, which can reach as far as 1 kilometer into the lake during dry season. You can walk on this strip of sand, with water splashing in from both the left and the right. During the raining season, however, the water level of the lake rises and this strip of sand can totally disappear.
This point is famous for its spectacular views. You can also see the mainland on the other side of the lake, including the Mombacho Volcano close to Granada.

Laguna Charco Verde
The natural reserve Charco Verde is a protected area located between the two volcanoes of Ometepe, at the bottom part of the island. The area encompasses a lagoon, forest, and a beach.
The lagoon is called Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) and it is closed off from the lake by only a thin strip of land. The lagoon provides a shelter place for many birds, monkeys and other wildlife.

Altagracia
Pre-Columbians statues, as well as petroglyphs and other cave arts are found on Ometepe. The experts think it was a type of aboriginal sanctuary for the different rock humps and pieces of ceramic were found, looking as ceremonial centers. They say those statues were sculpted by chorotegas, an indigenous community, at the beginning of the century (800 to 1,350 after J-C). Those statues are made up of black basalt, a very hard material.
