The meeting point of the experience is located in one of the most central and lively areas of Funchal, next to the Marina and the Marina Shopping, a place of easy access and with a strong connection to the urban life of the city. This initial framework allows to contextualize Funchal as a port city, open to the sea and historically marked by the maritime trade and the Atlantic routes.
The walk begins by the elegant Arriaga Avenue, one of the main axes of the city, known for its historic buildings, traditional cafes and cosmopolitan atmosphere. During this course, topics related to urban development, European influence and the cultural importance of this avenue as a meeting and leisure space over the centuries are addressed.
During the journey, references are made to the exterior of the Baltazar Dias Theatre, a symbol of funchal cultural life, allowing to understand the role of arts, bourgeois society and architectural evolution in the history of the city.
