The Waterpoort in Sneek is perhaps the most famous icon of the city. This stone building is characterized by the two octagonal towers.

The Martini Church was originally built in the 11th century and made of tuff. Around 1300 the church was enlarged and it got three towers.

Sneek Town Hall was built around 1478. The building was then built on the foundations of two towers: a medieval, defensible, habitable tower. After that, the City Hall was often expanded and renovated.
