The romantic bridge par excellence is the Minnewater Bridge. Rain, sun, mist or snow, love always reigns supreme here

The romantic charm of the Wijngaardplein is simply irresistible to passers-by, but take your time here - there is a lot to see! The Beguinage’s main gate is sure to grab your attention, but don’t miss the Sashuis. This picturesque building regulated water-flow in the city centre and it is because of this that the Lake of love exists.

The name of this small cobbled square possibly refers to the first city walls, built nearby in 1127-1128. Aside from the selection of lively cafe terraces beneath the trees, Jef Claerhout also pays tribute to the city’s coachmen through his sculpture 'Zeus, Leda, Prometheus and Pegasus visit Bruges'.

Bruges’ oldest parish church (12th–15th century) has amongst its treasures a rood loft with an organ, medieval tombs, Brussels tapestries and a rich collection of Flemish paintings (14th-18th century). The treasure-chamber displays, amongst others, paintings by Dieric Bouts, Hugo van der Goes and other Flemish primitives.

The mathematician and physicist Simon Stevin (born in Bruges in 1548, died in The Hague in 1620), after whom the square is named, stands proud on this lively square, which is framed by neat rows of linden trees.

The monumental City Hall (1376-1421) is one of the oldest in the Low Countries. It is from here that the city has been governed for more than 600 years. An absolute masterpiece is the Gothic Hall, with its impressive vault and 20th century murals depicting the history of Bruges.

The beating heart of Bruges has long been dominated by the Belfry, 83 meters high and the city’s most prominent building. Those who climb to the top of the Belfry are rewarded with a breath-taking panorama. In the Market Square itself you can marvel at the imposing Provincial Court and the many colorful stepped gables.
