Iron Mountain Road is far more than just a drive—it is an unforgettable American journey. Stretching 17 miles through South Dakota's stunning Black Hills, this engineering masterpiece features 314 curves, 14 switchbacks, and 3 spiraling "pigtail" bridges that loop over themselves. It is most famous for its narrow, one-lane stone tunnels that perfectly frame Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the distance.
With a maximum speed limit of just 35 mph, this road forces us to slow down, roll open the convertible top, and experience a rare, captivating piece of wilderness.
