Plateia Syntagmatos
Visit Syntagma Square, the beating heart of modern Athens, where history and city life meet. Set right in front of the Hellenic Parliament, this lively square is framed by neoclassical buildings and inviting cafés. It's the city's main gathering place — a true symbol of Athens, blending tradition with everyday energy for visitors to soak in.

National Garden
Step into the National Garden, a lush, shaded oasis in the heart of Athens, just steps from Syntagma Square. A true oasis at the city's core, with plants and flowers from every corner of the world — many of which still can't be found anywhere else in the country. The path leads naturally to the Zappeion, an elegant 19th-century building surrounded by manicured grounds — a favorite spot for a relaxed stroll and a glimpse of everyday Athenian life away from the crowds.

6
Choragic Monument of Lysicrates
The Monument of Lysicrates, also known as the Lantern of Diogenes, is a cylindrical stone building, the best-preserved choregic monument of antiquity. The word choragic is an adjective that means relating to a choragus, a wealthy citizen in ancient Greece who paid for, organized and led a musical chorus for a public festival or play.
7
Anafiotika
Tucked beneath the northern slopes of the Acropolis, Anafiotika is a hidden, island-style neighborhood with whitewashed houses, narrow alleyways and blooming bougainvillea. Built by settlers from the island of Anafi in the 19th century, it feels worlds away from the bustle of the city — a quiet, secret corner where Athens unexpectedly turns into the Cyclades.
20 minutes
8
Tower of the Winds
The Tower of the Winds is an ancient octagonal marble clock tower and weather station located in the Roman Agora in Athens. Built around 50 BC by the astronomer Andronikos of Cyrrhus, it combined sundials, a water clock and a bronze Triton weather vane to track time and weather.

Hadrian's Library
Hadrian's Library, an important part of the extensive building programme of the philhellene emperor Hadrian, was built in 132 AD, in order to accommodate the city's largest library and probably, the State Archives but also the worship of the emperor.
