This one-day tour explores the “Traces of Poland in the Heart of the Caucasus,” highlighting the historical and cultural ties between Poland and Azerbaijan. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Polish architects, engineers, and scientists played a key role in shaping Baku’s urban development, oil industry, education and medicine legacies still visible today. The tour includes the site of the world’s first mechanically drilled oil well from 1846, Villa Petrolea of the Nobel family and the modern redevelopment of Baku White City. World's First Oil Well
Pick up from any address or arranged meeting point within Baku. After meeting at the arranged meeting point we drive to World's First Drilled Oil Well. It is 15 minutes driving distance from the meeting point to that place. In 1846, Azerbaijan became the birthplace of industrial-scale oil drilling. The first mechanical oil well was drilled in Bibi-Heybat using cable-tool drilling techniques. The well reached a depth of about 21 meters and produced its first oil, setting the stage for the global oil industry. This achievement predates the famous Drake Well in Pennsylvania, USA, drilled in 1859, by over a decade. While the Drake Well is often credited with sparking the first oil boom in the United States, the Bibi-Heybat well holds the distinction of being the world's first mechanically drilled oil well.

House Museum of Nobel Brothers in Baku Villa Petrolea
It is 20 minutes driving distance from Oil Well to Villa Petrolea. Baku White City is an ambitious urban redevelopment project that has transformed a historically industrial area into a modern, sustainable, and vibrant urban space. Spanning approximately 1,650 hectares, it is one of the largest urban regeneration projects in the Caucasus region. Villa Petrolea, also known as the Nobel Brothers’ House Museum, is a historic mansion in Baku.

Istiglaliyyat Street
It is 15 minutes driving distance from the Villa Petrolea to this area. Vehicel drops the guests here and they will pass by Western Caspian University, Pass, Building of Baku City Executive Power, Palace of Happiness, Institute of Manuscripts, Presidium of the Academy of Sciences (Ismailiyya building) by walking with the explanation by their private guide. Guests will spend in this areas approximately 60 minutes.

National Museum of History of Azerbaijan
Tour continues to National Museum of History of Azerbaijan (Memorial House museum of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev). You will proceed there by walking 10 minutes with explanations by your guide about the history and architecture of the City on the way to the Museum. The National Museum of History of Azerbaijan is the largest museum in the country, offering a comprehensive overview of Azerbaijan's rich history and cultural heritage. Housed in the former residence of the prominent oil magnate and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, the museum is located in central Baku. The museum's extensive collections span various periods of Azerbaijani history, including Prehistoric Artifacts, Medieval Period, Islamic Art, Modern History, Memorial Rooms. The museum also features exhibits on Azerbaijani culture, including traditional clothing, musical instruments, and crafts.
Travelers will spend in the Museum about 60 minutes with explanation by their private guide.

St. Mary's Catholic Church
t is 10 minutes driving distance from the Museum to the Church. The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary is the only active Roman Catholic church in Azerbaijan. Located in central Baku, it serves as a significant place of worship and cultural heritage for the Catholic community in the region. The Catholic community Completed in 1912, the original church was designed in the Neo-Gothic style and was a prominent feature of Baku's skyline. In 1997, the Catholic community in Baku was re-established. Following a visit by Pope John Paul II in 2002, a plot of land was allocated for the construction of a new church.
Travelers will spend in this last point about 15 minutes with explanation by their private guide. We complete the tour here and return back to the meeting point. Driving Distance from there to City Centre is only 5 minutes.
