Nuruyusanso
Travel back to the Edo Period at a Samurai Checkpoint Located on the strategic mountain pass connecting the Sendai Clan to the Akita region, the Nuruyu-Bansho stood as a sentinel for over 200 years. Today, it remains a rare architectural jewel where you can still feel the tension and prestige of the samurai era. Your local guide will reveal hidden details, from the fierce Hannya masks guarding the gates to the giant Kama-otoko (hearth god) mask watching over the residence.
Traditional Weaving with a Modern Twist Following the tour, transition from history to hands-on creativity. You will learn the time-honored weaving methods of the Kurihara region. While the techniques are traditional, we use vibrant "craft bands" that are easy for beginners to handle. Under the gentle guidance of local experts, you will create a one-of-a-kind basket—a perfect, functional memento of your journey into the heart of Miyagi.
