Watch a traditional tortilla-making demonstration and try making your own, while discovering the fresh ingredients, local spices, and family recipes used in Maya cooking. Then sit down for an authentic home-cooked lunch prepared especially for your visit, including traditional tamales and other dishes made with fresh local ingredients. Add a little habanero sauce if you’re feeling adventurous! After lunch, continue approximately 25 minutes to Bacalar Lagoon for the second part of your adventure.

Spend approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes by the lagoon and enjoy it your way. This is your time to slow down and experience the natural beauty of Bacalar after a morning filled with Maya culture and local flavors. When it’s time to leave, sit back and relax on the approximately 1 hour and 10-minute return drive to Costa Maya Port, with your cruise schedule always kept in mind.
