This tour is designed specifically to experience the 2026 solar eclipse from one of the most dramatic viewpoints in the Westfjords. Rather than simply watching from town, we travel high above the fjords to Bolafjall, where the open horizon over the Arctic Ocean creates an unforgettable setting as the sky darkens during the eclipse.
Guests enjoy light catering while watching this rare celestial event from a remote cliffside viewpoint, followed by a visit to the historic Ósvör maritime outpost on the return to Ísafjörður. The combination of natural spectacle, local history, and one of the best viewing locations in the region makes this a truly memorable way to experience the eclipse.

Guests will stop at Ósvör Maritime Museum in Bolungarvík, a reconstructed 19th century fishing outpost that offers a glimpse into Iceland’s traditional coastal life. The small turf buildings and wooden structures recreate the conditions faced by early fishermen who worked the harsh North Atlantic waters from this remote region.
Set against dramatic cliffs and the open ocean, Ósvör provides a fascinating look at the history and culture that shaped the Westfjords. Guests can walk through the historic buildings, explore the shoreline, and enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and sea before continuing back to Ísafjörður.
