Hike Imbros Gorge and Beach Private Tour (price per group of 6)
If you are looking for a hike combining one of the three options: beach, wine or olive oil tasting, this is the perfect tour for you! Imbros gorge is located south of Lefka Ori mountains and take around 3 hours to cross. The hike starts from Imbros village. We will drop you off at the entrance, then pick you up at the end. Our driver will not hike with you. Its around 2 hours driving each way. Most of the hike is in the shade with a narrow trail that cannot be lost. It's good to have a sufficient supply of water and hat. Imbros gorge is a small version of Samaria gorge. The scenery is breathtaking, ideal for nature lovers and wildlife watchers. We believe its the best hike for children from 10 years old and half the size of demanding Samaria gorge. After Imbros we could visit Frangokastello beach or do a wine or olive oil tour/tasting for an hour. You can choose one option. Tastings and lunch are around 20 euro per person each and paid separately. November to March no tastings.

Private Tour in Imbros Gorge & Frangokastello Beach
What makes this tour unique for customers is the opportunity to explore the stunning Imbros Gorge, which is the second most popular gorge in Crete. The gorge offers breathtaking natural beauty and is open year-round, making it accessible even in the spring when the famous Samaria Gorge is closed. With an average walking time of about 3.5 hours, it is a manageable hike for most tourists. The narrowest part of the gorge, measuring only 1.60 meters, adds an adventurous element to the experience. The tour also includes a visit to Frangokastello Castle and Beach, known for its well-preserved Venetian castle and the mysterious phenomenon of "Drosoulites" or "dew shadows," which occurs when the sea is calm and the atmosphere is moist. The beach at Frangokastello is ideal for families with small children, as it has very shallow waters.

From Chania: Imbros Gorge Hike & Frangokastello Beach
Experience the raw beauty of Crete on a full-day adventure from the rugged White Mountains to the tranquil Libyan Sea. Begin with a self-guided hike through the spectacular Imbros Gorge — an 8-kilometer descent through a narrow canyon shaped by centuries of wind and water. Surrounded by towering limestone walls, you’ll walk beneath shaded pines, past wild herbs like thyme and sage, and over smooth stone paths carved into the earth. As golden eagles glide above and the scent of Cretan flora fills the air, you’ll feel part of the island’s untouched wilderness. After emerging from the gorge, continue to the peaceful coastal haven of Frangokastello. Swim in crystal-clear waters, relax on the wide sandy beach, and explore the medieval Venetian fortress that guards the shore. With its calm atmosphere, mountain backdrop, and sweeping views across the Libyan Sea, Frangokastello offers a serene contrast to the wild heart of Crete.
