Das Anwesen von Königin Jelena Madijevka
Queen Jelena Madijevka Park is the first public park in Zadar and Dalmatia, opened in 1829 on the Grimani Bastion, part of Zadar’s Venetian defensive system, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The park was created by Baron Franz Ludwig von Welden, a military governor and passionate botanist, who designed it as a public space showcasing Mediterranean plants.
Once known as the city’s “balcony,” the park became a popular meeting place and social center, offering beautiful views of the sea.

Das Forum
Roman Forum
The Roman Forum in Zadar is the largest Roman forum on the eastern Adriatic. Construction began in the 1st century BC under Emperor Augustus and it served as the main public square of ancient Iader.
The Forum measures approximately 90 by 45 metres and was surrounded by porticoes with shops and workshops. Today, only parts of the pavement, steps, and two monumental columns remain. One column still stands in its original position and was used as a medieval “pillar of shame,” with chains still attached to it.
