New Belgrade Brutalism
In New Belgrade, travelers will explore the unique brutalist architecture and large residential blocks that define the city’s socialist-era urban planning. They will see the famous “blocks” (Blokovi), massive concrete buildings built during the Yugoslav period, designed to reflect functionality, equality, and modernist ideals of the time.
Guests will learn how New Belgrade was developed after World War II as a symbol of a new socialist society, and how these structures represented the vision of Yugoslavia’s leadership.
