In 1939, the Nazis established a women’s concentration camp opposite a renowned spa town, where smoke from the camp was visible to guests. Over its six years of operation, more than 100,000 women from Germany and all occupied territories endured horrific treatment at the hands of SS guards, many of them women. Tragically, over 30,000 lost their lives due to disease, exhaustion, hunger, brutality, or were murdered in gas chambers, shootings, or through inhumane medical experiments.
