About
The beginnings of the salt mine date back to around 1685, when the officer Mihail Cantacuzino identified the salt deposit. The mine consists of 14 trapezoidal-shaped rooms, with a base opening of 32 meters, a ceiling of 10 meters and a height of 45 meters. The Slănic Salt Mine is considered the largest visitable salt mine in Europe, due to the large volume of excavated salt and the vast space.
