Zaanse Schans is a small village located just 20 km from Amsterdam.
Here time seems to have stopped: green wooden houses, canals, wooden bridges and windmills are the scenery in front of which you will find yourself. This small village that sits on the banks of the Zaan River is a find.
Besides visiting the village and learning a lot about Holland and the Dutch people, we will stop at a cheese factory to taste Dutch cheese and also see how the famous wooden clog is made today.
Departure at 9:30 from Amsterdam Central Station. Return to Amsterdam (end of tour) at approximately 1.30pm.

Zaanse Schans is a must when visiting Amsterdam. 20 km from the city, this charming country village offers a peaceful setting among fields and green wooden houses. During the visit we will travel through time together and learn how this area was very important in the famous Dutch Golden Age, being the place of arrival of all commercial boats arriving from the East.
With its magical atmosphere, picturesque canals and beautiful bridges, Zaanse Schans is a historic site where you can find the beautiful 1600s windmills, Dutch cheese dairy and wooden clog factory

The wooden shoe is a typical Dutch shoe still in use today. Here we will show you how it is produced now and what its importance is. You will also have the chance to wear this shoe and try it live!
There are all kinds, decorated or hand carved, you can choose your favorite and collect a nice souvenir!

Specerijenmagazijn Indie's Welvaren
The spice mill is among the oldest in the country.
Spices arriving from Dutch boats from Indies in the 1600s arrived and were processed here.
Entering this mill still today you can breathe the smell of finely ground cinnamon from the millstones activated by the force of the wind.
This mill still processes spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and many others.

The Dutch consume kg and kg of cheese every year. And here you can taste many of the cheeses that are consumed every day in our daily lives.
Henry Willing's small factory in Zaanse Schans is among the oldest in the country.
Here you can understand how the typical Dutch cheese is produced and taste more than 30 different types of cheeses such as gouda cheese, lavender cheese, pesto cheese and many others.
