Itinerary
1
St. Peter's Square
As soon as you arrive in St. Peter's Square, you will find yourself in front of a unique show in the world. I will guide you through his masterpieces: the ancient Egyptian obelisk overlooking the center of the square, the scenic embrace of Bernini’s colonnade and the monumental facade of the Basilica.
I will tell you everything: from its construction to the Baroque era, from hidden symbols to the curiosities that often escape those who visit alone. You will feel like you are seeing the square with completely new eyes!
20 minutes
2
St. Peter's Basilica
Although we will not enter the Basilica, I will explain everything you need to know about this extraordinary building. You will discover how it was born, who designed it, and how it has gone through the centuries becoming the emblem of Christianity.
I will show you vintage images and architectural details to help you understand its transformations. I guarantee you that, even from outside, it will be an exciting moment!
20 minutes
3
Vatican / Borgo
As we pass through the Vatican Walls, I will tell you about their meaning: not only as a physical border between two states, but as a symbol of power, history and spirituality.
I'll point out details you might not see for yourself and tell you stories that make these walls more fascinating than you imagine.
10 minutes
4
Via della Conciliazione
Together we will walk this “modern” road compared to the rest of Rome. I will tell you how it was born, why it is called that and what was there before its construction.
You will see for yourself how the city has transformed over time and discover the link between urban planning, history and politics. It is a short stretch, but full of meaning!
10 minutes
5
Castel Sant'Angelo
Finally, we will stop in front of Castel Sant’Angelo: a fascinating building that has changed its face a thousand times.
I will tell you how from the tomb of Emperor Hadrian it became a fortress, a papal refuge, a prison and today a museum. I'll also tell you about the mysterious secret passage that connects him to the Vatican.
It will be a perfect ending to our journey into the heart of Rome rich in history and legends.
