According to Maya legend, it was built in a single night by a magical dwarf. Standing over 35 meters (115 feet) tall, its unique rounded shape and impressive architecture make it one of the most remarkable pyramids in the Maya world. The Bird Quadrangle is a smaller residential and ceremonial complex named after the numerous bird carvings found on its façades. These decorations reflect the importance of wildlife in Maya symbolism and daily life.

The Nunnery Quadrangle is one of the finest examples of Puuc architecture in the Maya world. Its four richly decorated buildings surround a large courtyard and feature intricate stone carvings, masks of the rain god Chaac, and geometric designs.

The Ball Court was used for the ceremonial Maya ballgame, a ritual activity that combined sport, religion, and political symbolism. The game often held deep spiritual significance for the ancient Maya.

The Governor’s Palace is considered a masterpiece of Maya architecture. Built on a massive platform, it features one of the longest and most elaborate façades in Mesoamerica, decorated with hundreds of stone mosaics.
