Japanese wooden architecture, admired worldwide, originates not in temples or houses but in the forest. This unique experience takes you into a certified private timber forest near Tokyo, typically closed to the public, to explore how Japanese architecture begins with trees and long-term forest management. Guided by a master forester whose family has managed these mountains for over 300 years, you’ll learn how forests were intentionally cultivated to produce strong, straight, and durable timber for Edo period architecture and beyond.
