See a monumental Soviet mosaic and Lenin statue outside the Grigoriopol cannery. Continue to the town center to explore the House of Culture with its magnificent mosaics, the local museum with its unusual ships, and the authentic town library.

Stop at the Mound of Glory, a Soviet-era memorial dominated by a real T-34 tank. Learn about the monument’s historical context, walk around the memorial, and take memorable photographs beside the tank.

Examine a Soviet mosaic bus shelter and learn about the challenges of preserving monumental art in Transnistria. Missing sections of this mosaic were replaced with painted copies rather than restored with new tiles, creating an unusual example of how Soviet heritage is maintained today.

Explore central Dubasari and see the Dniester Garden mosaic, the main square, the Lenin monument, and the historic music school. Walk through the compact town center while your guide explains the city’s Soviet past and present-day life. If open, a brief visit to the small local history museum may also be possible.

View the Dubasari Hydroelectric Power Station from a public observation area and learn how the dam transformed the Dniester River and the surrounding region. The power station remains a strategically sensitive site, so photography is prohibited.

Stop beside a colorful Soviet mosaic bus shelter in the village of Goyany. Examine its design, take photographs, and see the nearby Three Pillars memorial while learning how public art and local history were incorporated into ordinary village spaces.

Discover one of the route’s most photogenic village stops: an unusual mosaic bus shelter accompanied by a Soviet collective-farm worker statue and the Dnestrovsky sign. Take photographs and learn about the visual symbols once used to represent collective farms and rural life.

Visit the center of Vykhvatintsy to see its Dzerzhinsky monument and the Soviet mosaic on the House of Culture. Hear about the village’s connection with composer Anton Rubinstein and photograph several examples of Soviet and local heritage concentrated around the village center.

Explore Rybnitsa, northern Transnistria’s main industrial city. Begin with panoramic views before seeing the railway station, the exterior ruins of the former sugar factory, and the Moldavian Steel Works from public roads. No entry into abandoned, industrial, or restricted areas is included.
Continue to the city center to see the Moldova mosaic on the Palace of Culture, the main square and Lenin monument, the city foundation stone, the Catholic church, the Orthodox cathedral, the city park, and the Memorial of Glory. Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant at your own expense before beginning the return journey.
