It is said that this area was the site of battles at Edo Castle during the time of Ota Dokan. Tayasu Gate was built in 1620 (Genwa 6) and is thought to be the current version that was repaired in 1636 (Kan'ei 13), and was dismantled and repaired in 1963. It is a square gate consisting of a Korean gate facing north and a Watariyagura gate perpendicular to its west side.
