ASTONISHING OF ANGKOR WAT: Every visitor walking through the Angkor Wat Temple complex will be astonished by its vastness (covering an area of 400 acres). Because of its complexity and symmetry, visitor’s attention may be either attracted or distracted. FASCINATING FACES: Bayon Temple was constructed in the heart of ‘Angkor Thom’ intended to represent ‘Mount Meru’, the center of the universe in Hindu and Buddhist beliefs. The name “Bayon” was a French transcription by European explorers in 19th-Century. Scholars associate the figure with 4 faces with the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who appears with multiple faces, an important deity in Mahayana Buddhism. However, the faces have also been associated with the multi-faced, Hindu God, 'Brahma', who is the Creator of the Universe.
