The Taj Mahal, often called the “Crown of the Palace,” is a magnificent ivory-white marble mausoleum located on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra, India. Commissioned in 1632 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (r. 1628–1658) in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, the monument also later became his own resting place. At the heart of a 17-hectare (42-acre) complex, the tomb is surrounded by a grand mosque, a guest house, and beautifully designed formal gardens, all enclosed by a majestic crenellated wall on three sides.

Agra Fort is a majestic historical fort located in the city of Agra, India. Serving as the primary residence of the Mughal emperors until 1638, it remained a symbol of power and grandeur until the capital was moved from Agra to Delhi. The fort, built with striking red sandstone, is also known by several names, including “Lal Qila,” “Fort Rouge,” and “Qila-i-Akbari.”
