Slow portraits on tin - A victorian photography session
About
Slow portrait sessions are a personal experience which result in a one-of-a-kind nuanced and organic portrait. These portraits capture more than just a physical appearance. The nature of these sessions build anticipation. There’s a sense of presence in the moment rarely experienced in digital sessions. The images have an organic, grainy texture and unique tonal rendition. This adds a certain timelessness to the portrait.
The process requires patience, as the outcome isn’t immediate. You and I will share a moment of mystery waiting for it to develop. Whilst we wait you will learn about the important place Edinburgh holds in the development of photography.

Are you ready to turn your hobbies into a business?
We will create 1 portrait on metal in the studio, then together we'll develop the image using techniques from the very beginnings of photography in the 1850s. While we are in the dark room I will tell you about the history of photography in Edinburgh, and how the city was influential in the development of the art.
