You don’t start by holding a sword. You start by understanding where kendo comes from, and why the spirit of Japan lives within it.
Etiquette and Respect Before training, you calm your mind and bow. Not as a formality, but as a way to face others with respect.
Ki – Spirit You learn how samurai express their presence and fighting spirit, not through anger, but through focused intent.
Tai – Body You practice traditional footwork that keeps the body grounded, balanced, and ready.
Ken – Sword Only then do you learn how to hold the sword, how to swing it, and how to move with it.
Ki-Ken-Tai-Itchi Spirit, sword, and body come together. This is the foundation of a true samurai strike.
