Ollantaytambo
After a scenic drive, we’ll pause in the charming town of Urubamba for a lunch break (about 45 minutes, lunch not included), surrounded by the stunning backdrop of the Sacred Valley.
Next, we’ll journey to Ollantaytambo, once the royal estate of the great Inca emperor Pachacuti. This ancient town is a masterpiece of Inca engineering and design, blending ceremonial, agricultural, and architectural wonders.
During our hour-long exploration, marvel at the awe-inspiring Temple of the Sun, where colossal stones were impeccably carved and fitted by skilled Inca stonemasons. Wander through agricultural terraces ingeniously designed to create microclimates, and discover intricate stone water fountains and channels that highlight the ingenuity of Inca hydro-engineering.
