The experience already begins outside, in Bernini's colonnade that with its 284 columns create a perfect perspective effect.
From the outside you can admire:
- The Dome, designed by Michelangelo, today a symbol of Rome with its approximately 136 meters high
- The Façade: Work of Carlo Maderno, imposing example of late Renaissance architecture.
The visit will include:
Michelangelo's Pietà - carved when he was only 24, the only work signed by the artist
Bernini's monumental 30 meter high canopy - located above the papal altar
The Statue of St. Peter - whose right foot is consumed by the touch of the millions of pilgrims who pass by every year.

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore
Millennial mosaics : Mosaic cycles of the fifth century which are among the most valuable in the world for state of preservation and historical importance.
Layered architecture: The interior has an early Christian structure, the exterior has a Baroque facade and the tallest Romanesque bell tower in Rome.
Religious treasures: It houses the relic of the Holy Cradle (the Bethlehem nativity scene) and the famous Salus Populi Romani icon.
The "Miracle of the Snow": Legend has it that it was built where it snowed inexplicably on August 5, an event recalled every year with a rain of white petals.
