Rajaji Tiger Reserve
Located at the foothills of the Shivalik Himalayas, Rajaji Tiger Reserve is one of North India’s most exciting wildlife destinations. Spreading across more than 800 square kilometers, the reserve stretches through the districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal, offering an immersive jungle experience just a short drive from the spiritual towns of Rishikesh and Haridwar.
Visitors can explore the park on guided open Jeep safaris, venturing deep into sal forests, riverbeds, and grasslands in search of iconic species such as the Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, leopard, and large herds of deer. Birdwatchers will also find the reserve rewarding, with over 300 species of birds recorded in the region.
One of the most unique areas of the reserve is the Jhilmil Jheel Conservation Reserve, a protected wetland ecosystem known for sightings of swamp deer (barasingha), migratory birds, and other wetland wildlife.
