Welcome to Red Rock Canyon! This dazzlingly colorful landscape serves as a window into the earth’s geologic past and human history in the Americas.
Note: This 13+mile-long tour covers the essentials of Red Rock in 4-5 hours.

Calico Hills
Today the Calico Hills are mounds of hard, red rock, but they looked completely different 180 million years ago. Back then, you’d instead find a huge field of shifting sand dunes.

Sandstone Quarry Overlook
Up ahead is Sandstone Quarry Overlook, where miners used to harvest sandstone!

Calico Basin Trail
The Calico Basin Trail is a fairly easy 1.5 mile out-and-back trail that will show you some new angles of the Calico Hills, but it mostly serves as a connecting route to other longer trails.

Ice Box Canyon Trailhead
Need a break from the heat? The Ice Box Canyon Trail is just ahead. After a 15-minute walk through the desert, we’ll find ourselves flanked by cliff walls that create a whole new biome.

Red Rock Wash Overlook
This spot is particularly popular among bird-watchers, as many of the over 100 species of birds in Red Rock can be seen from this open, unobstructed view.

High Point Overlook
Up ahead is High Point Overlook, the highest point we’ll see on our tour at 4,780 feet above sea level!

Lost Creek Canyon
If you’re visiting Red Rock Canyon during the wetter months of April-December, you might be enticed to venturing into Lost Creek Canyon!

Pine Creek Trailhead
This easy trail offers a nice walk and a peek into history at the same time. The 2.4 mile, 2-hour out-and back trail leads to the entrance of Pine Creek Canyon.
