Itinéraire
1
Parc Baywalk de la ville de Puerto Princesa
A long, paved seaside promenade along Sandoval Street beside Puerto Princesa Bay where locals and visitors stroll, jog, or just relax by the water. It’s often compared to Manila Bay’s promenade but with cleaner air, a calmer vibe, and scenic views.
10 minutes
2
Place Cuartel
During the Japanese occupation (1942–1945), the Plaza was used as a prison camp for captured Allied soldiers. On December 14, 1944, fearing an Allied return, Japanese forces forced about 150 American prisoners of war (POWs) into tunnels beneath the Plaza and killed them by fire and other brutal methods — an atrocity known today as the Palawan Massacre. Only 11 prisoners survived by escaping and swimming to freedom.
It stands as a somber reminder of the horrors of war and serves both as an educational site for visitors and a place of reflection for local communities and descendants of those affected.
10 minutes
3
Cathédrale de l'Immaculée Conception
The first Catholic Mass in Puerto Princesa was celebrated at this site on March 10, 1872 by Fray Ezequiél (Exequiel) Moreno, an Augustinian Recollect missionary, just days after Spanish explorers arrived in the area. He established the parish under the patronage of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
