Itinerary
1
Lake Butte Overlook
Take in one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in Yellowstone at Lake Butte Overlook. Perched high above Yellowstone Lake, this scenic viewpoint offers sweeping vistas of the lake, surrounding mountain ranges, and vast stretches of wilderness that define the park’s rugged beauty.
Guests will have time to step out, explore the overlook, and capture incredible photos while soaking in the quiet and scale of the landscape. This area also provides excellent opportunities to spot wildlife from above, including bison, elk, and occasionally bears moving through the surrounding forests and shoreline.
Your guide will share insights into the geology of Yellowstone Lake, the significance of this vantage point, and the role this region plays in the park’s ecosystem. It’s a perfect place to pause, take in the scenery, and appreciate the wild, untamed nature of Yellowstone.
2
Hayden Valley
Travel through Hayden Valley, one of Yellowstone’s most iconic landscapes and a prime location for wildlife viewing. This expansive valley, shaped by the Yellowstone River, offers sweeping views and some of the best opportunities to see large herds of animals moving across open terrain.
Guests will have the chance to observe bison, often seen in impressive numbers, along with elk, waterfowl, and other bird species that thrive in this rich habitat. Hayden Valley is also known for predator activity, and with some luck, we may spot grizzly bears, wolves, or coyotes in the distance.
With multiple scenic pullouts, we’ll take time to stop, glass the valley with spotting scopes, and fully take in the landscape. Your guide will share insights into the ecosystem, predator-prey dynamics, and the seasonal behaviors that make Hayden Valley one of the most dynamic and exciting areas in the park.
3
Lamar Valley
Venture into Lamar Valley, often referred to as the “Serengeti of North America,” and one of the premier wildlife viewing areas in Yellowstone. This wide open valley offers some of the best opportunities in the park to observe animals in their natural habitat.
Guests will spend time scanning the landscape with high-quality spotting scopes and binoculars in search of iconic species such as bison, pronghorn, elk, and bighorn sheep. Lamar Valley is also world-renowned for its wolf populations, and with a bit of luck and expert guidance, you may witness these incredible animals in the wild. Bears, coyotes, foxes, and eagles are also frequently seen in this area.
Your guide will help bring the landscape to life by sharing insights into animal behavior, migration patterns, and the ongoing conservation efforts that make this ecosystem so unique. With plenty of time to stop, observe, and take in the scenery, this portion of the tour offers an unforgettable and immersive wildlife experience.
