Chateau Musar is not simply one of Lebanon's great wineries — it is one of the most celebrated and most written-about wine estates in the world. Its wines have been described by critics as among the most distinctive and complex produced anywhere, and the story of how founder Serge Hochar continued making wine throughout the Lebanese Civil War — at one point being held at gunpoint at a checkpoint while transporting his harvest — is the stuff of wine legend. A private visit to Musar is a pilgrimage for any serious wine lover. From Musar the tour continues north along the Lebanese coast to Ixsir — one of Lebanon's most architecturally stunning wineries, built into a 400-year-old terraced hillsi...

Itinerary
1
Beirut
9:00 AM — Departure from Beirut
Your private English-speaking driver collects you from your Beirut hotel and heads north along the Mediterranean coastal highway — one of the most scenic drives in Lebanon, with the sea on one side and the Lebanese mountains rising steeply on the other — toward Chateau Musar in Ghazir.
2
Château Musar
Begin at one of the most legendary wine estates in the world. Chateau Musar was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar and brought to international fame by his son Serge, who introduced Musar to the world at the Bristol Wine Fair in 1979 to instant critical acclaim. The estate's flagship red — a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan aged for seven years before release — is produced in tiny quantities and considered by many critics to be one of the most complex and age-worthy red wines made anywhere on earth. The guided cellar tour takes you through the historic cellars beneath the 17th-century castle where the wine is aged, and the tasting that follows is an education in what makes Musar so utterly unlike any other wine in the world.
1 hour and 30 minutes
3
Ixsir
Continue north to Ixsir — one of Lebanon's most visually spectacular wineries, built into a 400-year-old terraced hillside near Batroun with sweeping panoramic views over the Mediterranean. The name Ixsir comes from the Arabic word for "elixir," and the winery lives up to it — producing elegant, internationally awarded wines from grapes grown at multiple altitudes across Lebanon, from the Bekaa Valley to the high mountain terraces. The architecture of the winery itself is award-winning — a seamless integration of modern design into the ancient stone terraces — and the guided cellar tour reveals the meticulous winemaking process behind wines that have earned medals at Decanter, the International Wine Challenge, and other leading competitions. The tasting showcases their signature Grande Réserve red, aromatic whites, and their celebrated rosé.
1 hour and 30 minutes
4
Batroun
Lunch in Batroun — Phoenician coastal town
End the day with a leisurely lunch in Batroun — one of the oldest Phoenician cities in the world, founded over 3,000 years ago and today one of Lebanon's most charming coastal towns. The old town's stone streets, ancient Phoenician sea wall, and waterfront restaurants make it the perfect setting for a long, relaxed lunch of fresh Lebanese mezze and seafood. Batroun is also famous as the home of Lebanon's craft beer scene — the ideal accompaniment after a morning of serious wine. Your driver knows the best spots that tourists rarely find.

5
Beirut
Return to Beirut — approx. 5:00–6:00 PM
Scenic coastal drive back south to Beirut with drop-off at your hotel — completing a full day along Lebanon's most beautiful northern coastline, through two of the country's most extraordinary wineries and one of its oldest Phoenician towns.
