Bannockburn War Memorial
The Battle Bannockburn took place on the 23rd to 24th June 1314 and was a decisive victory for the Scots during the Wars of Independence with England.
The objective of the English army, led by King Edward II, was to relieve the English garrison holding Stirling Castle. It was not a battle that King Robert the Bruce of Scotland had wanted to fight as his campaign against the English invaders had been based on guerilla tactics. But the battle was brought about by his brother, Edward Bruce, who had negotiated with the English garrison that they would surrender if not relieved before the 24th June.
Join Gary in a personal tour of this fantastic period of Scottish history.

Monument national à Wallace
The National Wallace Monument is a 220-foot (67-meter) Victorian Gothic tower completed in 1869, located on the Abbey Craig in Stirling, Scotland. It honors Sir William Wallace, overlooking the site of his 1297 victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. The monument features a 246-step spiral staircase, the famous 5ft 4in Wallace Sword, and panoramic views from its crown.
Entry into the monument depends on physical fitness due to the steps and close stairwell but will be added on request with tickets purchased on the day and included but if not the outside tour with shuttle bus is still a fantastic experience! add 1 hour if going inside

Château de Stirling
Stirling is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles – an icon integral to how we understand the nation’s story. The castle peaked in importance in the 1500s, but its volcanic crag has been fortified since ancient times.
Generations of Scottish monarchs have enlarged, adapted and embellished Stirling Castle. Explore its three main enclosures, and then admire the refurbished Royal Palace – childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. The palace’s lavish design drew on European Renaissance fashions to show off James V’s power and good taste.
We have recreated the palace interiors as they may have looked when the Scottish king’s grand scheme was complete.
Join Gary on the walk around the gateway and key to the Highlands before the Argyll and Sutherland museum.
A free period after the museum is available to explore at your convenience.
