Upon meeting your professional egyptologist local tour guide at your Luxor Hotel or Nile Cruise lobby. Your tour will commence with a visit to the Luxor Museum. Established in 1975, this remarkable museum boasts a meticulously curated collection of antiquities dating back to the Middle Kingdom (2055 BC - c. 1650 BC), primarily sourced from the Theban temples and necropolis.
In 2004, the museum underwent an extension, "the Glory of Thebes," which houses a remarkable collection dating back to the New Kingdom (1570 - 1050 BC), featuring two royal mummies of Ahmose I and Ramses I. This impressive collection is not to be missed during your visit.

Mummification Museum
Next on your tour, you will visit the Luxor Mummification Museum, which opened to the public in 1997. This charming museum showcases an impressive collection of human and animal mummies, along with the tools used in the mummification process. You will gain insight into the ancient Egyptian practice of mummification, which was believed to be a vital part of achieving eternal life. The museum also features examples of the various objects typically buried alongside the deceased.
