Gruyère-Centre
Spend some free time in Gruyères strolling through the medieval village. At the foot of the Alps, you will be enchanted by the charm and picturesque architecture of this town, which has been unaffected by the passage of time. 800 years of regional history and culture meet Oscar-winning aliens and Buddhist sculptures. The historic town of Gruyères, or Greyerz in German, has retained its medieval appearance to this day. The old count's residence is located on a hill above the Saane. The 13th century castle is now a museum of eight centuries of regional architecture, history and culture.
The nearby St. Germain Castle is home to the HR Giger Museum, which displays the fantastic art of the Oscar winner and Alien creator. In the middle of the traffic-free town is the Tibet Museum, which opened in 2009 and has over 300 Buddhist sculptures, pictures and ritual works from various Himalayan regions.
