Castelo de Almourol
The castle of Almourol, located on a small island that was already inhabited at the time of the Roman occupation of the peninsula, from the 8th century, was occupied by the Muslims, who will have conquered it to the Visigoths. In the context of the Christian reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula, Almourol was conquered by D. Afonso Henriques in 1129, who gave it to the Order of the Temple.

Igreja de Santa Maria dos Olivais
The primitive church dates back to the twelfth century, under the command of D. Gualdim Pais, master of the Order of the Templars, to serve as a burial ground for the Freires. The present church corresponds to the XIII century, to the reign of D. Afonso III, instituted like the most emblematic work of the national Gothic architecture. His planimetric model served as an example for other religious temples, both cathedral and conventual from north to south.

Igreja de Sao Joao Baptista

Aqueduto dos Pegoes
It is one of the largest and most imposing Portuguese aqueducts and the connection between both monuments is indispensable, since the construction in the 16th and 17th centuries, with about 6 kilometers, was built with the aim OF making the supply OF water to the Convent.
