University City
The central campus of the National Autonomous University is a UNESCO World Heritage site. With buildings adorned with mosaic and stone murals by Juan O'Gorman, Diego Rivera and other Mexican muralists, the central campus is a much-beloved space for students and anyone who want to enjoy the grounds. with your guide, learn the history and social importance of this university, from where all 3 of Mexico's Nobel prize winners graduated. If you want to spend more time here, there is also a separate section for the cultural center, home to a contemporary art museum and an outdoor sculpture park.

Xochimilco
Go to Xochimilco to see and learn about this area of canals and agricultural land created in prehispanic times. On the boat ride, you can choose to go to the ecological reserve side, or the more festive side where other boats will come by to offer you food, drink and even songs from mariachis! Either way, we can include a visit to an axolotl sanctuary, where these endangered endemic salamanders are under protection. Price of boat ride is included. Price of entry to the axolotl sanctuary is not included.

Cuicuilco Archaeological Zone
Cuicuilco is the most ancient pyramid in the Valley of Mexico, older than Teotihuacan. Unusual because of its circular formation, Cuicuilco was destroyed by the eruption of the volcano Xitle around 400 A.C. Learn the history of this area, first settled around 1200 B.C. with farming villages and slowly growing to be a major civic and ceremonial center.

Coyoacan
Time permitting, your guide can take you to Coyoacan to explore the neighborhood and the food market. We do not include entry to the Frida Kahlo museum, but if you get your tickets for late in the day, your guided tour can end after your tour of the neighborhood. Your guide can leave you at Casa Azul (they do not allow outside guides to give tour there), and the van can wait for you and take you back home after the 1-hour Kahlo tour.

OR, depending on time, you can visit the National Center of the Arts. This enormous complex is of architectural interest, and has spaces dedicated to learning and exhibition of the arts including dance, music, sculpture and painting. Includes specialized bookstores and a couple of coffee shops. Your guide will help you learn about the architecture and the social context of this public space.
