Itinerary
1
Plaza de la Merced
One of the most emblematic squares in Malaga, known for being the birthplace of Pablo Picasso (his house-museum is located on one of its corners). It is a spacious and lively space, surrounded by terraces and presided over by the obelisk in honor of General Torrijos.
20 minutes
2
Calle Granada
Ancient medieval thoroughfare that connects Plaza de la Merced with the heart of the historic center. It preserves the Arabic layout and is flanked by palaces, traditional shops and bars with history. It unites culture, architecture and local life.
15 minutes
3
Parroquia Santiago Apostol Malaga
The oldest temple in the city, founded after the Christian conquest in 1487 over an ancient mosque. Gothic-Mudejar style, its square-based tower and Renaissance porch stand out. Here Paul Picasso was baptized.
20 minutes
4
Plaza de la Constitucion
Malaga nerve center from the Middle Ages to today. It has been a market square, a town hall and a venue for key events. It is surrounded by stately buildings and connected to the main shopping streets.
20 minutes
5
La Calle Larios
The most elegant and representative street in Malaga, opened in 1891. Nineteenth-century style, pedestrian and full of life, it is the great artery of the center for shopping, walks and popular celebrations such as Easter or the Fair.
20 minutes
6
Pasaje de Chinitas
A corner with a lot of local flavor, famous for its history as a coffee-singer in the 19th century and for being frequented by artists, poets and bullfighters. Today it retains its charm among traditional shops and bars.
20 minutes
7
Plaza del Obispo
One of the most picturesque squares in the old town, presided over by the baroque facade of the Episcopal Palace and a central fountain. It offers one of the best views of the cathedral and is a must stop point.
20 minutes
8
Malaga Cathedral
Known as "La Manquita" for its unfinished tower, it is one of the great Renaissance monuments of Andalusia. Its interior houses an impressive Baroque choir, sacred artwork and a fusion of styles reflecting centuries of construction.
