Izamal, the city of the "Three Cultures", is called that, because it brings together the Pre-Hispanic, Colonial and Contemporary stages. Among its main attractions are the Franciscan Convent of San Antonio de Padua, the Museum of Popular Mexican Art and the Kinich Kak Mo pyramid, which translates as Fire Guacamaya. It could be the oldest colonial city, within which five pyramids stand. It is considered a colonial jewel, since all its buildings are painted yellow and it is also a Marian Shrine, where the image of Our Lady of Izamal, Patron of all Yucatecans is found.
