Dalmatian hinterland and stunning view over Adriatic
Our journey continues above the Adriatic road with a view of the remote villages along the way where different types of scenery can be seen. The feeling that you are no longer in Dalmatia may occur. This is a true Mediterranean hinterland. The region is well known for its herbal plants whose resources and potential are currently not in use as they could be.

Ston Discovery
We will go down to get back on the main Adriatic road and drive towards the small towns of Mali Ston and Ston. As soon as we make a turn you will be located on the second largest peninsula in Croatia called Pelješac. Additionally, the oyster and mussel farms are nearby, therefore there is an opportunity to taste the freshest oysters and mussels in the Adriatic! In addition, the Ston walls are considered to be one of the longest original wall fortifications in Europe – renovated and open for visitors. We will have a short tour around the town with the possibility to walk the walls on your own later on.

Ston Salt Works
Just across the town of Ston, there are still operating saltworks where we will have a stroll and get acquainted with their history. At present, the saltworks do not have an economic significance as they used to back in between 15-16ct. However, we still use them, mainly for roads during the winter season in the continental part of the country and for some small local usage. Later on, an opportunity to have lunch on your own in a local tavern.

ACI Marina Slano
Slano Village stop
Afterward, we will be coming back along a coastal road towards Dubrovnik. Halfway, we will place a short visit to Slano village which means salty in Croatian. This was the place where the salt from the Ston saltworks was distributed towards the hinterland. We will have a stroll and see the former Rector palace which has been renovated just recently as well as a small archaeological exhibition within a monastery garden with tombs dating from an early Christian era. Slano today acts as a small resort and a fishing village, but back in medieval times, it was quite important due to all the trading traffic inland which took place right here. From Slano village there is a 30 minutes ride back to Dubrovnik.
