Visit one of the most iconic palaces in Sintra, the Monserrate Palace. This 19th century building, restored from existing ruins by an English merchant by the name of Francis Cook, is presently a sublime monument showing clear oriental and medieval influences. It appears briefly in the film "The Promise" released in 2017. This palace also boasts one of the most beautiful and complete botanical gardens in Portugal. The next stop is the Pena Palace where you can admire a mix of architectural styles in the interior as well as in the exterior.
