Site archéologique d'Akrotiri
Uncover the myths and history of Santorini on a 5-hour guided tour of the Akrotiri excavations, a prehistoric Bronze Age city. During the Minoan volcanic eruption some 3,600 years ago, the city was frozen in time by ash that fell. Some speculate that this is the origin of Atlantis, a mythical town lost in time.
Admire the elaborate drainage system, the sophisticated multi-storied buildings, magnificent wall paintings, excavated furniture, and vessels that show the former settlement’s great prosperity. Discover evidence of winemaking that has been estimated to date back to the 3rd Millennium BC, making Santorini one of the oldest winemaking regions in the world.
Continue your wine discovery by strolling through the island’s basket vines at three wineries and learn about Santorini’s unique viticulture traditions. Taste a selection of 12 different wine styles from across Santorini and Greece, such as Assyrtiko, Nykteri, and the sublimely sweet Vinsanto wine.

Artemis Karamolegos Winery
Artemis Karamolegos winery, rooted in the volcanic vineyards of Santorini and having a tradition of winemaking since 1952, is one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing wineries in Santorini. All his wines have been awarded at major international wine competitions. The winery has the most modern equipment for winemaking, special areas for wine tasting, a wine shop and selected local products.
Today Artemis Karamolegou winery produces 10 different brands of wines. It makes the best use of the combination of a special microclimate with volcanic, calcareous soils offered by the terroir of Santorini, and “leads” Assyrtico, along with other local grape varieties, in the production of internationally recognized wines for their quality.
The history of the winery goes back to 1952, when Grandfather Artemis cultivated his vineyards to produce wine that would satisfy the needs of his own family, and then sell it to the island and the rest of Greece.
